For sports clubs and clubhouses
Martyn's Law for clubs run by volunteers.
Match days, presentation evenings and clubhouse hires can bring 200 or more people together. Smallprint helps your committee prepare the procedures, brief volunteers and keep the records.
From £1.33 a week. Free until 1 March 2027. 25% off for charities, CICs and parish councils.
Why it can feel hard for sports clubs and clubhouses
- The club is run by volunteers, and different people open the bar on different days.
- Big fixtures, finals and end-of-season parties bring far more people than a normal week.
- The clubhouse is often hired out for parties and functions.

Questions we hear from sports clubs and clubhouses
Does it count people outside on the pitch side?
The Act looks at people on the premises, which can include grounds you control. The checker asks about outdoor areas and helps you count sensibly.
Is there a discount for community clubs?
Yes, if your club is a registered charity or a CIC: 25% off any plan.
Who should set it up?
Usually the club secretary, chair or whoever looks after the clubhouse. You can add others later.
