For pubs and bars
Martyn's Law for pubs, without the consultant's bill.
If your pub can hold 200 or more people at its busiest, the Act applies. Smallprint drafts your procedures, signs off your bar staff on their phones and keeps the records, from £1.33 a week.
From £1.33 a week. Free until 1 March 2027.

Why it can feel hard for pubs and bars
- Busy Friday and Saturday nights, match days and Christmas can tip you over 200 people, even if most nights are quieter.
- Bar staff change often, work casual shifts and are rarely all in at once for a training session.
- Beer gardens, function rooms and late licences make it harder to know exits, safe rooms and who is in charge.
How Smallprint helps
The checker helps you work out your busiest realistic number and saves how you counted it.
Exits, the beer garden, the cellar or kitchen as a safe room, and who calls 999, all in your own words.
Each person scans a QR code, reads their part on their phone and takes a two-minute quiz. No training day.
Drills, checks and sign-offs are dated, and the full evidence pack prints in one go.
Questions we hear from pubs and bars
We are only busy a few nights a year. Does it still apply?
The Act looks at how many people can reasonably be expected at once, from time to time. Regular busy nights and seasonal peaks usually count. Run the checker and it will explain the result for your pub.
Do we have to buy equipment or hire security?
Not for the standard tier. It asks for procedures, training your team and telling the regulator. There is no requirement to buy equipment.
Can pub groups manage several sites?
Yes. Each venue has its own procedures, team and records, and the group view shows them side by side. Extra venues cost £39 a year (£27 at the founding price).
