For live music venues and clubs
Martyn's Law for grassroots music venues, without the big-venue budget.
A sold-out gig can bring hundreds of people into a small room. Smallprint drafts your four procedures, signs off door and bar staff on their phones and keeps the records, from £1.33 a week.
From £1.33 a week. Free until 1 March 2027.

Why it can feel hard for live music venues and clubs
- Crowds are packed, loud and dark, so instructions have to be short and clear.
- Door staff, bar staff and promoters' crews change from night to night.
- Your capacity on a sold-out night is very different from a quiet Tuesday.
How Smallprint helps
How to stop the music, use the PA or the mic, and move people out or into a safe area.
Door, bar and production staff each read their part on their phone and sign off.
Log a short walk-through before doors, so practice happens without closing for a night.
Dated records of who knows what, ready to show your licensing officer or insurer.
Questions we hear from live music venues and clubs
We hold more than 800 people. Is Smallprint enough?
No. At 800 or more you are likely to be in the enhanced tier, which asks for more than procedures. Smallprint is built for the standard tier, and the checker will tell you which applies.
Do we need to search everyone or add security?
Not for the standard tier. It asks for procedures, your team knowing them and telling the regulator. There is no requirement to buy equipment.
What about promoters who hire the room?
Use the hirer safety sheet to brief them, and log when you did.
